As the 2025-26 season is now in full swing we are back with the UofMind Goalies of the Month for October! We’re proud to spotlight three goaltenders who continue to raise the bar and represent the elite level of mindset and performance that defines our goalie community.

Jakub Dobeš – Montreal Canadiens (NHL)
October Stats: 6-0-0 | 1.97 GAA | .930 SV%
Jakub Dobeš continues to make a statement as one of the most consistent and confident young goaltenders in the NHL. In his second consecutive season with the Montreal Canadiens, Dobeš has gone undefeated, making him the first rookie in NHL history to have back to back 5-0-0 starts. Throughout October, Dobeš delivered standout performances that showcased both his skill and mental strength. Game after game, he faced every challenge with composure well beyond his years. His calm presence in the crease and ability to stay focused under pressure have quickly earned the trust of his teammates and coaches alike.
With his preparation, focus, and mindset built for the big stage, Dobeš is proving that he’s more than ready to rise among the NHL’s best. As Montreal continues its push through the season, all eyes are on this rising star showing exactly what it means to play, and think, like a pro.
Josh Fleming – Penn State Nittany Lions (NCAA)
October Stats: 3-0-0 | 1.33 GAA | .952 SV%
Josh Fleming continues to raise the bar for what it means to play with composure and consistency. With a flawless record and elite numbers through October, Fleming is showing that success starts before the puck even drops — in the preparation, the focus, and the belief in your own process. His ability to slow the game down and perform under pressure is a direct reflection of his mindset. He reads plays with precision, stays patient, and trusts his instincts when it matters most. That calm presence has made him a pillar of strength for Penn State, giving his teammates the confidence that no matter the challenge, they have the edge in goal.
Carter Esler – Spokane Chiefs (WHL)
October Stats: 3-4-0 | 2.49 GAA | .904 SV%
Carter Esler continues to showcase his reliability and poise between the pipes for the Spokane Chiefs. Over seven starts this month, Esler delivered steady and composed performances that highlighted both his technical ability and mental toughness. Whether facing heavy pressure or defending tight games, he remained calm and focused—earning the trust of his teammates and coaches alike.
Esler’s consistency and work ethic reflect the mindset of a goaltender committed to growth and performance. With each game, he proves that preparation, confidence, and focus are the foundation of his game—setting the tone for his continued rise in the WHL.
Watching these goaltenders rise — Jakub Dobeš in the NHL, Josh Fleming in the NCAA, and Carter Esler in the WHL — is nothing short of inspiring. Each one of them represents what The Goalie Mindset is all about: preparation, focus, and confidence. They train their minds the same way they train their bodies — with discipline, vision, and purpose. They understand that success begins long before game day. It starts in their thoughts, their preparation, and their belief in themselves. Their success is a powerful reminder that when you think like a pro, prepare like a champion, and stay grateful for the opportunity to grow, anything is possible.
